American Rhapsody 2/7/09
Jack Klein, Sunday, February 8th, 2009
The performances were great, particularly Mr. Kramer's piano playing. The musical history lesson of African-American influences on Gershwin was interesting. I was disappointed to be clobbered over the head by more Obamamania. The election of Obama is the 2nd most important day in the history ofmore the US? Mr. Kramer - you have to be kidding. There were lines in the performance which mentioned not discussing politics. Too bad you did.

Tim White benefit
Randall Kramer, Artistic/Executive Director, Monday, January 26th, 2009
Just to set the record straight - the Tim White benefit on this Tuesday wasn't selling tickets. (We had 4 reservations.) We have decided to do a behind the scenes fundraiser for Tim's family instead because we can raise more money that way. After all that everyone has been through here, it'smore appaling to me that some people still feel the need to denigrate and attack.

Indian Giver
Shocked McGoo, Sunday, January 25th, 2009
There was a press release distributed from Mr. Kramer, deciding that the $2000ish that he discovered had been thus far raised and given to Tim White's family was quite enough, so he would NOT be dedicating the proceeds of one performance (and 1/2 concessions) to the memorial fund after all. Citingmore other initiatives around town as also being ample compensation, Mr. Kramer felt that the money was best served not leaving his theater company which operates on an enormous budget as it is. This is CLASSLESS to say the least. If ANY theater in Buffalo was to have a performance dedicated financially to Tim White, it's Musicalfare. I have heard much talk of Mr. Kramer's ego and poor judgement, but this takes the cake. Not only do you need a lesson in humilty, but one in humanity as well. Poorly done, Mr. K, poorly done!

a mission?
tony baksa, Thursday, January 22nd, 2009
My first experience with Musicalfare was the Harold Arlen bio. I took out a subscription with a group of friends ( 8 ) that very week. I've come to presume that Randall Kramer is on a mission to explore American culture through his original works. I say, please continue your quest Mr. Kramer. Lastmore night's performance validates , for me, this presumption. What better way to delve into our culture than through genuises like Gershwin. I look forward to your next take on America. American Rhapsody has left me ( and my 7 friends ) rhapsodic!
