MusicalFare Theatre Returns to Canalside as part of
"the story of buffalo" - Free historical programming at canalside!
MusicalFare Theatre, Western New York’s largest and most prolific producing theatre company, is proud to announce a new series of FREE performances at Canalside as part of "The Story of Buffalo" series. On Mondays, beginning May 20th and running through September 23rd, 2013, the characters of Dewitt Clinton and Seamus Mahoney will come to life in performances by actor, Nick Russo (pictured at right).
Dewitt Clinton was the governor of New York from 1817 – 1822 and has been called “the Father of the Erie Canal.” Seamus Mahoney is a fictional composite character who represents the laborers who built the canal. Between these two characters, Canalside audiences will receive a full portrait of the men who were responsible for one of the great engineering and economic successes in our nation’s history.
Original monologues for Clinton and Mahoney are written by Nell J. Mohn with direction by Randall Kramer. Costume Design is by Kari Drozd.
Other parts of "The Stories of Buffalo" series are The Erie Canal Concert, featuring Dave Ruch both using instruments and singing songs from canal-days, and the interactive storytelling of Erie Canal Sal, played by Gretchen Murray Sepik.
